NOTE

Passe compose is formed like this:

(avoir­/etre) + (past participle verb)
= passe compose

Always remember that avoir and etre must be conjugated in present tense for passe compose. Refer to the "How to use" notes for further detail on each of the above terms.

How to use - avoir and etre

Avoir and etre are the words that go before the verb in passe compose. You have to decide which one you need to use for the situation and you must conjugate them in present tense. If the verb is VANDER­TRAMP (whole body actions), you must use etre. Otherwise, you will use avoir

How to use - past participle

Past participle verbs go after avoir and etre in the passe compose. These verbs are very simple to congugate, unless they are irregular. There is a long list of irregular verbs that you must memorize in order to use passe compose. All of the irregular verbs that you need are written below.
