Regulation for the controll of pollution by Noxious Liquid Substance in Bulk

Hva er IBC code?

It provides an intern­ational standard for the safe carriage by sea of dangerous and noxious liquid chemicals in bulk, to minimize the risks to ships, their crews ans the enviro­ment.
the code prescribes the design and constr­uction standards of ships and the equipment they should carry, with due regard to the nature of the products involved.

Pollution catego­riz­ation

Categori X, Major hazards
Prohib­ited. Noxious liquid substances which, if discharged into the sea from tank cleaning or deball­asting operat­ions, are deemed to present a major hazard to either marine resources or human health and, therefore, justify the prohib­ition of the discharge into the marine enviro­nment;
Catergory Y, hazard
Limita­tions. Noxious liquid substances which, if discharged into the sea from tank cleaning or deball­asting operat­ions, are deemed to present a hazard to either marine resources or human health or cause harm to amenities or other legitimate uses of the sea and therefore justify a limitation on the quality and quantity of the discharge into the marine enviro­nment
Caterory Z, minor hazard
Less stringents restri­ccions. Noxious liquid substances which, if discharged into the sea from tank cleaning or deball­asting operat­ions, are deemed to present a minor hazard to either marine resources or human health and therefore justify less stringent restri­ctions on the quality and quantity of the discharge into the marine enviro­nment;
Other substances

Hva menes med "pre wash"?

All the cargo tanks must to be emptied as good as possible. For example:
Category X
Mandatory pre wash( to be disposed ashore)
Catgory Y
Prewash ( to be disposed ashore) depending on melting point or viscosity of the cargo
Category Z
No prewash
Other substances
Not regulated under this annex

Oil Record book

The Oil record book shall be kept in such a place as to be readily available for inspection at all reasonable times.

Sip types

Imo Ship type 1
Is a chemical tanker intended for the transp­ort­ation of products considered to present the greatest overall hazard. The quantity of cargo required to be carried in a ship type 1, could not exceed 1,250 m^3 in any one tank
Imo Ship type 2
Is intended to transport products with apprec­iably severe enviro­mental and safety hazard which require signif­icant preventive measures to preclude escape of such cargo. Shoukd not exceed 3000 m^3 in any one tank
IMO Ship type 3
Is a chemical tanker intended to transport products with suffic­iently severe and enviro­mental safety hazards. These products required a moderate degree of contai­nment to increase survival capability in gamage condition.
 

hva certif­icate of fitness?

Every chemical tanker much be provided with an intern­ational ertificate of fitness for the carriage of dangerous chemicals in bulk, with attached list of cargoes that the ship is fit to carry, a tank plan, tank groups, and a list of additional requir­ements.

Hva er Håndbok( P&A manual?

Every ship certified to carry substances of category X, Y or Z shall have on board a manual, " håndbok with is aprroved by the flag state.
The main purpose of the Manual is to identify for the ship’s officers the physical arrang­ements and all the operat­ional procedures with respect to cargo handling, tank cleaning, slops handling and cargo tank ballasting and deball­asting which must be followed in order to comply with the requir­ements of this Annex.
